West Coast CTA Conference

in Sacramento on April 13-15, 2007

"Embracing Radical Jesus in a Changing World"

Plenary Speakers:

Matthew Fox:  President of the University of Creation Spirituality in Oakland; postmodern theologian; author, and international speaker. He will speak on living a mature Christianity.

Edwina Gateley:  Founder of the Volunteer Missionary Movement, a lay overseas mission group; and Genesis House, a haven for prostitutes; noted author; international retreat leader.  “Healing the World’s Despair - Following a Hot and Passionate Jesus.”

Bernard Cooke:  Professor of Theology; author of 22 books; winner of the 2004 Call to Action National Award. “Tradition”  He will focus on the understanding of tradition as a shift from authoritative teaching of doctrine to a more dynamic view involving the community.

Patty Hawk:  Co-President of CTA National; professor of communication at Nebraska Wesleyan University; church reform activist. “Called to Change the Church through Action.”

Additional topics to be included in breakout sessions:
Gospel Justice; Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender Issues; Women in the Church; Fear and Insecurity;  Institutionalized Injustice; Immigration; Ecology; Interfaith Relations; Informed Consumerism; and more.
